Old Hobart Distillery & Lark Distillery Join Forces
As of Friday 17 January 2014 Lark Distillery Pty Ltd will acquire Old Hobart Distillery and the Overeem brand. Both companies will remain as separate brands and entities, with Old Hobart Distillery/Overeem’s new legal entity becoming Overeem Whisky Pty Ltd (trading as Old Hobart Distillery). Overeem is becoming a wholly owned subsidiary of Lark Distillery Pty Ltd.
After 21 years of hard work and dedication to the whisky industry, Bill & Lyn Lark have stepped away from their business – Lyn from 1 January and Bill slowly over the coming years. In July 2013 they sold a large part of their business to a syndicate of investors, most of whom are based in Hobart. Lyn has taken on a non-executive role on the Board, and Bill will reduce his time to around 2 days per week, acting as the Lark Global Brand Ambassador.
After 7 years, Casey Overeem, proprietor of Old Hobart Distillery/Overeem Whisky, is ‘hanging up his boots’ and heading into the world of semi-retirement. Going forward, Casey’s role within the company will be in the quality control area and he will also act as an ambassador for the Overeem brand when required.
After 2 years of Marketing and Sales for Overeem Whisky, Jane Overeem will continue full time work within the company as Marketing Manager for both brands, as well as Brand Ambassador for Overeem. Courtney McCabe (Lark) has moved into a Marketing Assistant and Sales role and will be the contact for future Overeem Whisky orders. Troy Trewin is Chief Executive Officer for both Lark Distillery Pty Ltd and Overeem Whisky Pty Ltd.
Lark and Overeem Whisky will continue to be produced separately, and branding will remain the same. The joining of these two iconic whisky businesses will ensure strong future growth in the industry with many exciting ventures ahead.
